About the department
Some medical specialties, both technical and clinical, are considered desirable by many of the medical staff. Anesthesia comes at the forefront of these specialties. Where there is a significant increase in the number of students enrolled in this course, whether at the level of doctors at the diploma and board levels, or at the level of technicians at the post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree.

That the Department of Anesthesia Techniques has a unique scientific status in the academic scientific community, locally and in the Arab world, and plays an effective and influential applied role in the technical, health and medical fields. Meeting the needs of society and the requirements of the labor market, and the student becomes a pioneer in his educational environment by graduating students of anesthesia technology to health institutions with compassionate treatment and based on solid scientific foundations to provide safe health care to the patient.

The mission of the Department of Anesthesia Techniques at Al Qalam University College is to direct and adapt all its resources to reach excellence in education, research, patient care and contribute to improving human health and preventing diseases throughout Iraq to provide services and medical sponsors in the field of anesthesia in accordance with the traditions and ethical and professional values.

This mission includes the basic elements in improving patient care in Iraq, including education, scientific research, continuing education, and community service through a stimulating environment for the acquisition, dissemination and production of knowledge in anesthesia techniques, optimal use of technology, and building local and international companies.
Aims

Graduation of specialized cadres to work in the fields of anesthesia and intensive care techniques in operating theaters as well as in units of care for them, follow-up on the regularity of their work and care for them, and follow up on the patient’s condition during anesthesia and under the supervision of a doctor.

Preparing cadres with modern education and training in the field of anesthesia to form an important tributary of providing basic technical cadres and practicing the profession of anesthesia and intensive care to work in hospitals.

The profession of anesthesia is one of the important and sensitive medical specialties, and providing a broad base for practitioners of this profession in the medical field in general is important to fill the huge shortage in this specialty. To help them work in hospitals and under the supervision of anesthesiologists.
