Under the sponsorship of the Dean of Al-Qalam University College, Professor Dr. Latif Saeed Barzanji, The Women’s Empowerment Unit at Al-Qalam University College, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit and in coordination with the Media and Public Relations Unit, took the initiative. A number of its professors and students from various scientific departments embarked on a volunteer campaign to visit the orphanage in Kirkuk. During which gifts were distributed to the residents of the home.
Assistant Professor Dr. Wasan Adnan Hashem, Head of the Medical Devices Department and head of the visiting delegation, says:
“In implementation of the directives of the Deanship of the College calling for communication with segments of society, Coinciding with the month of goodness and blessings, the holy month of Ramadan, He organized a volunteer work team at the college, Their contribution to alleviating the burden on the home and the health services it provides. As well as distributing gifts and stationery to orphans.”
She added: “This initiative came as an embodiment of the principles of our true religion, which urges us to visit orphans to find out their needs. In addition to providing moral support to them,” she pointed out that this initiative is not the first, as it was preceded by several initiatives that included communication with various segments of society, Especially those in need, and extending a helping hand to civil society organizations concerned with caring for the sick, the elderly, and orphans, to strengthen the bonds of love and harmony among members of society.”
