As a commitment from the “University Al Qalam College” to its responsibility to contribute positively to building the contemporary civilization of Iraq and to achieve its progress and prosperity, In order to meet the needs of his students from the people of the governorate and nearby governorates, Serving the community by developing skills and competencies to serve the medical specialties and raising the level of health in our dear country, especially in terms of supplying medical laboratories with a high level of scientific and practical competence, It provided all the material and human requirements for the creation of the “Medical Laboratory Techniques Department” to serve the public interest.
Objectives of the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies

Expansion and depth in the study of basic and medical biological sciences and pathological analyzes in a comprehensive manner and their applications and uses in society in theory, practice and practice in the service of the public interest and a supplement to medical specialties in Wasit Governorate in particular and Iraq in general.

Preparing specialized technical cadres and cadres to serve medical specialties (dentistry, pharmacy, nursing), working in government and private medical laboratories, conducting laboratory analyzes, general chemical examinations and examining fluids.

Attracting graduates of the preparatory school / scientific branch in Kirkuk and nearby governorates, many of whom are forced to go to private colleges where this specialization is available in the far provinces.

To meet the need of the governorate and the region for cadres in pathological analyzes capable of carrying out laboratory work related to isolating, dyeing and examining germs present in clinical samples, in addition to fulfilling the need of health institutions, official and private hospitals, and private pathological analysis laboratories in the governorate and nearby governorates.
